“DoT (department of telecommunications) needs to follow the recommendations given by TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India). Hence, they have to allocate spectrum to existing operators as per the norms,” Sunil Mittal told reporters here on the sidelines of the Partnership Summit, organised by industry chamber Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

“It’s a matter of days when they give that to the existing players,” Mittal added.

The DoT recently approved increasing the minimum number of subscribers required before firms were granted additional spectrum, which has been accepted by the operators.
