Pakistan arrests Indian fishermen for illegal fishing

Islamabad : Pakistani authorities have detained Indian fishermen for illegally fishing in Pakistani waters, the Maritime Security Agency (MSA) said on Wednesday.

The authorities also seized their fishing boat on Tuesday, a MSA statement said.

The Boat was found fishing illegally about 70 Nautical Miles inside the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of Pakistan, it said.

“The Indian fishermen have been warned time and again not to indulge in illegal fishing but they repeatedly come in Pakistan’s EEZ to explore benefit from rich fish resources at the mouth of Indus Delta”.

The apprehended fishermen have been handed over to Docks Police station for further legal action, the statement said.

Authorities in both countries detain each other’s fishermen for crossing territorial waters.
