Ram Prakash, 51, was released Monday from Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat prison and was brought Tuesday to the Wagah-Attari border checkpost for his repatriation to India.

However, Indian immigration authorities said he could not enter India as he did not possess valid travel documents, impliedly passport and visa.

He was taken back to the Lahore jail by the Pakistani authorities.

Sources at the border checkpost said that officials at the Indian embassy in Islamabad did not send the prisoner’s travel documents due to some communication gap on his day of arrival here.

They said fresh documents from the embassy are likely to come in a day or two and after that Ram Prakash would be allowed to return home to India.

Prakash was arrested 10 years ago on charges of spying in Pakistan.
