Gaza : Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has warned Palestinian militants that Israel will respond with force if attacks from the Gaza Strip persist in violation of a recent truce.
Israeli radio quoted Olmert as saying Tuesday that Israel’s restraint thus far against the rocket attacks should not be interpreted as weakness.
He added if the calm is not maintained, Israel could retaliate with “full force.”
Israel again closed its border with the Gaza Strip after accusing Palestinian militants of firing another rocket into southern Israel on Monday.
The Israeli government leader also said that there is progress on the part of negotiations with the Palestinian authority, adding that there will be a meeting with the Palestinian president soon.
Regarding negotiations with Syria, Olmert said indirect negotiations are continuing through Turkey and with the aim to reach direct negotiations to achieve peace with Syria.
