Amman : A UN official has expressed here concern over the deteriorating human rights and humanitarian situation in the Palestinian territories as a result of the Israeli occupation practices.
Head of the International Committee to Investigate Israeli Practices against the Palestinian People, Prasad Sam told a press conference Tuesday that he was profoundly concened over the continuation of the deterioration of the situation in the Gaza Strip and the Palestinian economy in the occupied territories.
He pointed to Israel’s continuation to construct the separation wall and expansion of settlements as well as circumstances of conditions of Palestinian prisoners.
He added that the Gaza Strip has been turned into an open prison as Israel continues building settlements and the separation wall, stressing that these conditions led to the deterioration of the economic and social conditions in the Palestinian territories.
The UN official added that the Israeli authorities do not allow UN members to enter Palestinian territories, forcing them to rely on certificates from those coming from the occupied territories.
