Beirut : Prime Minister-designate Fouad Al-Siniora eets on Saturday with head of the Change and Reform bloc MP Michel Aoun in order to agree on the formulation of the new government.
Al-Siniora arrived at the residence of Aoun in the Rabia area east of Beirut in response to an invitation by the latter for lunch.
This paves the way for agreeing on the formation of the long-awaited national unity government. It is expected to be announced during a prospective visit by Al-Siniora to Baabda Palace where he would meet President Michel Suleiman to put the finishing touches on this cabinet which will include 30 ministers.
For his part, political aide to the Secretary General of Hizbollah Hussein Khalil said that the birth of the government has become near.
He told reporters after meeting with Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri that “We have expressed our willingness to give part of our share in the government for the opposition, and this what would happen.”
