Provincial police chief Juma Gul Humat said the human bomb drove a car packed with explosives and blew it up near the vehicles patrolling a crowded bazaar in Dihrawud district.

“Over ten civilians and five policemen were killed on the spot, and 30 others, mostly civilians, were wounded,” Humat said.

He said given the condition of many of the injured, the toll might rise higher.

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), in a statement released in Kabul Wednesday, said over 250 civilians were killed or injured in various terror-related incidents in Afghanistan over the past week.
