Brisbane : An unbeaten half-century from skipper S. Badrinath helped India A register a comprehensive six-wicket win over Australian Institute of Sports (AIS) in a 50-over match in the Emerging Players tournament at the Redlands Cricket Ground here Tuesday.
Electing to bat, AIS lost both its openers early but Matthew Wade scored a brilliant 115 to help to 269 for the loss of seven wickets at the end of the 50 overs.
In reply, India achieved the target with more than 10 overs to spare, Badrinath scoring 83 not out.
Pankaj Singh emerged the most successful bowler for India picking three wickets for 58 runs; Amit Mishra returned with figures of 2/31.
Indians started the chase on a disappointing note as opener Ajinkya Rahane departed with just nine runs on board. But Shikar Dhawan (75) and Badrinath added 140 runs for the second wicket to help India romp home safely. Abhishek Nayar (41) and Manoj Tiwary (24) also played some steady knocks.
