The IT officials suspect a scam of over Rs.100 million by these institutions in giving admissions to undeserving candidates with low marks under the management quota seats.

“These colleges were not making any entries about the hefty money being charged from students for admission against management quota seats,” an income tax official said.

The officials said that the raids would continue till Wednesday evening as all accounts of these institutions were being searched.

The educational institutions deal with dental, medical, engineering and other professional courses. All the institutions are located in a radius of 50 km around Chandigarh.

IT department sources said that nearly 100 officials were involved in the raids on the educational institutions.
