Afghan troops kill 9 suspected insurgents, wound 7

Kabul : Afghan forces have killed nine suspected insurgents and wounded seven others on the troubled Kabul-Kandahar highway, a press release of Afghan defense ministry released here Sunday said.

Without giving more details the press release cited defense ministry spokesman Zahir Azimi as saying that the troops had killed and injured dozens of militants in Kandahar’s Panjwai district.

However, it did not give the exact date of the incident or there were any casualties on Afghan forces.

Taliban outfit has yet to make comment.

Militancy and conflicts have left more than 2,000 people dead so far this year in Afghanistan.
