Abu Mahmoud, the group’s spokesman in the West Bank, told reporters that Fatah movement would carry out serious actions against Hamas members in the West Bank, if Hamas forces do not stop cracking down on Fatah movement and its institutions in the Gaza Strip.

“Al-Aqsa Brigades hold Hamas movement fully responsible for the safety of Fatah members in Gaza,” said Mahmoud, adding that “We give Hamas 12-hour time to stop attacks on Fatah movement in Gaza.”

Meanwhile, Fatah lawmakers in Gaza called on their Hamas counterparts to hold an emergency meeting to discuss the current situation in Gaza following Hamas security forces crack down on Fatah movement.

Hamas crackdown on Fatah movement came after Friday’s bomb attack on Hamas militants’ car in western Gaza, where five Hamas militants and an eight-year-old girl were killed.

According to the Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR) in Gaza, Hamas security forces arrested some 160 Fatah activists and members all over the Gaza Strip following the night bombing on Friday.

Hamas movement has directly blamed Fatah and accused its militants for being behind the attack. However, Fatah spokesman in the West Bank denied that Fatah militants were behind the attack.

The Islamic Resistance Movement, or Hamas, is controlling the Gaza Strip since mid-June last year when it routed Fatah security forces.
