Bangkok : Chinese Consulate-General based in Songkhla on Monday confirmed that a Chinese citizen was killed on Sunday in the insurgent-violence-torn Narathiwat province, XINHUA reported.
Cai Wensheng, 56, from Wenzhou in the Zhejiang Province of eastern China, was shot in the head by an unknown number of assailants in Ra-Ngae district, Narathiwat province at around 2pm (0700 GMT) on Sunday.
Chinese Consul-General Wu Yangyu told XINHUA that Cai, a carpet seller, carried a tourist visa into Thailand died in the hospital.
The shooting happened after Cai got out of the car to sell carpets to local residents, according to Cai Dayu, his nephew who had accompanied Cai on the way, Wu quoted the police as saying.
Cai Dayu, 28, did not witness the shooting happen as he stayed in the car waiting for his uncle until a local Thai approached him, telling him that someone got shot and ask him to escape.
