Sub-divisional Magistrate (SDM) M.S. Kang and tehsildar Rajiv Pal received injuries after a mob of Gujjars attacked them in Balachaur, 70 km from here.

Senior district and police officers rushed to the spot after the two officials were attacked. Incidentally, both officers were saved by local mediapersons.

The incident took place when nearly 1,000 Gujjars were holding a meeting in the town to protest police inaction in the murder case of a local Gujjar youth. When the two officials went to talk to Gujjar leaders, some members of the community attacked them.

The mob not only assaulted them but also chased the fleeing officials and threw bricks at their vehicle.
