Damascus to host Islamic Tourism Conference tomorrow

Damascus : The Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) will take part in the Sixth Islamic Conference of Tourism Ministers, which will begin here tomorrow. Syrian President Bashar Al Assad will open the conference in which the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) Secretary General Prof. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu will deliver keynote speech. Tourism ministers from the OIC member states and representatives of the OIC-affiliated organizations and bodies will attend the five-day event.

The Conference will examine several documents on the development of tourism in the OIC Member States on top of which is a draft strategy for tourism development in ISESCO member States, according to an ISESCO statement. ISESCO will be represented in the event by Mustapha Eid, programs’ specialist at the Culture and Communication Directorate, who will submit to the conference a report on ISESCO’s efforts to develop cultural tourism in the member states.
