Beirut : Lebanese Hezbollah has considered the prisoners exchange with Israel as the resistance victory which is the most “faithful, strongest and supreme,” local Naharnet news website reported on Monday.
“What happened in the prisoners issue is a proof that the word of the resistance is the most faithful,” Hezbollah’s senior official Hashim Safiedin was quoted as saying on Sunday night.
Meanwhile, preparations to welcome the returning prisoners are underway in the southern Lebanese cities with pictures and banners hanging in the area, said the report.
Local press expected that the exchange operation would take place within a week or ten days.
The Israeli cabinet agreed on Sunday to a deal to free five Lebanese prisoners and some Palestinians in exchange for the remains of two soldiers captured by Hezbollah in July 2006, and remains of soldiers killed in 2006 war between Hezbollah and Israel.
Israeli indirect negotiations with Hezbollah through German mediation aimed at the return of Eldad Regev and Ehud Goldwasser or their remains.
The two Israeli soldiers were captured by Hezbollah in a deadly cross-boarder raid on July 12, 2006 that sparked 34 days of war between the two sides.
The deal also included handing over a report on the disappearance of Ron Arad, an Israeli air force officer who is missing in Lebanon since 1986.
