Seven Iraqi Officers Killed

Baghdad : At least seven Iraqi police officers died today and three were injured when a truck bomb detonated in the town of Duluiyah, province of Salah ad-Din, north Baghdad, reported security sources.

The vehicle was parked to the side of a road and exploded when the officers got inside to check it, commented the Chief of Police, Colonel Mohamed Khalid.

A captain and a lieutenant are among the dead, he mentioned.

This event took place only 24 hours from the death of an Iraqi general in Al Nairiyah, west Baghdad, the sources informed.

Brigadier General, Abdel Chabar al Musaid, chief of the intelligence services of Basra, died when his car was riddled with bullets by unknown armed men.

Another attack took place in north-eastern Baqubah, when a suicide squad tried to detonate an explosives belt in a control post of the so-called Awakening Councils, which protected the town hall of Wayihiya.

One of these US forces men, trained and paid to fight the resistance, suffered serious injures when the attacker, who was gunned down before approaching the objective, detonated the explosives.

Near Lake Zarzar, province of Salah ad-Din, north-east Baghdad, a pauper’s grave was found with 25 bodies mutilated and shot in the back of the neck, six women among them, informed the Police.
