Gaza : Palestinian medics updated the Palestinian death toll from Israeli military operations in northeastern Gaza Strip on Saturday to 27 from the earlier report of 20.

The latest deaths included a doctor, two girls and four militants from Hamas movement which rules the Gaza Strip, medics said, adding that 60 others were wounded in the operations on Saturday.

Palestinian witnesses said that an Israeli gunshot hit the house of the doctor, Wahid Badawi, in northern Gaza Strip, killing him at the scene.

According to medics, 13-year-old Salwa and her 17-year-old sister Samah Assalia were killed when an Israeli missile fell near their house to the east of Jabaliya refugee camp in northern Gaza Strip.

Meanwhile, the Islamic Hamas movement said that four of its militants were killed in a gun battle with the Israeli army forces, adding that two Israeli soldiers were also killed in Jabaliya.

However, an Israeli army spokeswoman told Xinhua that five soldiers were wounded in the clash near Jabaliya, two of them in moderate conditions.

She said that the operation there is still going on.

The Israeli army rolled into the eastern territories of northern Gaza Strip after midnight in an apparent attempt to distance Palestinian rocket squads from the border and curb their home-made rocket attacks.

According to Palestinian count, Israel has killed so far 60 Palestinians and wounded 200 since Wednesday.
