Jammu : After covering other areas of the state of jammu and kashmir the soldiers of Krishna Ghati Brigade took the banner of ‘Jawan aur Awam’ reached Krishna Ghati for the help of the populace in a big way, which it said has achieved astonishing results and excellent rapport with the people.
Giving details defence spokesman Lt Col SD Goswami told News Agency of Kashmir that the Army undertook a large number of infrastructure development projects including construction of Baba Garib Das Road which has helped serve several villages.
“Apart from this with the aim to provide quality education to the young boys and girls, two English Medium Schools have been constructed at Sagra and Baba Garib Das near Salotari. Few community halls have been constructed at Tain and Salotari” he added.
He said medical Camps for the locals were conducted regularly and 4000 patients have been treated. Staff and specialists were pooled in from both army and civil, and the major contribution has been screening of large number of Cataract cases and Cataract operation has been done on 15 patients.
“With an endeavour to promote education and cultural build up, school children were taken out on educational tour to Agra, the national capital Delhi, Amritsar, Chandigarh and Dehradun” he said adding the children indeed enjoyed this opportunity to move outside J&K and experience the cultural heritage of other states in the country.
To help the youth towards self employed a number of vocational cadres were conducted like Computers, Typing, Stitching, Toy Making, Plumber and Electrician.
A number of colourful cultural programmes were also organized which gave an opportunity to the children to showcase their cultural heritage and talent.
Enhanced interaction and laughter through Cricket, Kabaddi, Volleyball and Badminton tournaments, Iftar and Eid Milan, the tranquility of multi community ‘Lor devta’ in Krishna Ghati and encouragement to youth for employment generation have all been accomplished and is still ongoing. A positive change is visible in the aspiration of locals for a peaceful developed state due to activities being carried out by the Army for the development of the community.
