New Delhi : The families of the 16 people who died in a train accident in Gujarat last week would be paid a compensation of Rs.500,000 each, Railway Minister Lalu Prasad announced in the Lok Sabha Monday.
A train ran over the 16 people, including two women and two children, at Udhna town in Surat district Feb 27.
The victims, poor labourers from Uttar Pradesh, were trying to cross the railway track when they were crushed to death.
