Gaza : Mahmoud Zahar, one of Hamas leader and former foreign minister in the Hamas-led Palestinian cabinet, on Monday hinted that Hamas militants would infiltrate Israeli border and abduct more Israeli soldiers.
“Before you think of demolishing our houses, better secure your(Israeli) homes before Hamas men break the border and then we will not be merciful to the soldiers who will fall in our hands,” said Zahar during a rally.
Zahar also affirmed that the Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit, who has been held hostage somewhere in Gaza since June 2006, will not be freed if Israel doesn’t accept the conditions set by the Hamas-led captors.
Hamas armed wing and two minor armed groups abducted Shalit in late June, 2006. Hamas demands around 1,000 Palestinian prisoners to be set free from Israeli jails for freeing the Israeli soldier.
Zahar slammed Israel’s incursion into the Hamas-run Gaza Strip, especially at the northeastern territories of the Strip where the Israeli army staged an intensive invasion, killing some 110 Palestinians and demolishing tens of houses.
