Speaking at the weekly news briefing here, Cheema said the bomber followed the bus of the Naval College in Lahore, capital city of Punjab province, up to the gate and exploded his Suzuki car near the gate and at the empty transport shed of the college.

A total of six people including the suicide bomber were killed and 19 others suffered injuries in the attack, he said, adding that all officers including trainee officers were safe and sound.

Cheema appealed to the people to continue wholehearted cooperation with the government’s efforts to defeat terrorism and to ensure smooth and orderly transfer of power to the elected representatives.

“This would pave the way for the country to keep moving forward on the path to progress and bright future,” Cheema said.

It has been unfortunate that there have been three suicide attacks during the last one week in North West Frontier Province, Cheema said. Investigations are underway and the government would not let the perpetrators go unpunished, he added.
