Policeman kills son, attempts to kill second son

Mumbai : A police constable in Thane district has been arrested for killing his four-year-old son and attempting to kill his second son, who is two years old, Tuesday afternoon.

Constable Sanjay Tayde is attached with the Thane police headquarters and was on leave since a week. The incident took place in Gandhi Nagar.

Thane Police Commissioner D. Sivannandan told IANS: “Tayde threw his first son from the second floor of the building and then tried to throw his second son too.”

However, the police arrived just in time and saved the pulled the second child from the clutches of Tayde.

Sivannandan said preliminary investigations revealed that Tayde took this drastic step in the wake of constant squabbles with his wife.

Thursday afternoon, an enraged Tayde flung his first son, Suchit, from the balcony of their second floor flat and went into the house only to return with his second son in his arms, Sivanandan said.

According to neighbours, Tayde asked his wife to leave the home and then hit his son with a cricket bat before throwing him from the balcony of his second-floor house.
