Three policemen killed, wounded by roadside attack in S. Afghanistan

Kabul : One Afghan policeman was killed and two others wounded when their vehicle hit a mine planted by Taliban insurgents in southern Afghan province of Helmand on Wednesday, said an official.

Mohammad Hussein Andiwal, the provincial police chief told Xinhua that accident occurred at around 5 a.m.(GMT0030) when a group of police were patrolling in Gereshk district.

Meanwhile, Qari Yousuf Ahmadi, the purported spokesman of Taliban took responsibility for this roadside attack adding around six policemen were killed and injured.

Conflicts and Taliban-related violence have left more than 250 people dead so far this year in war-torn Afghanistan, where Taliban militants have vowed to launch the “Spring Assaults” to intensify their guerrilla-style attacks on national army and foreign troops.
