The art show, which is a brainchild of Tina Ambani, wife of industrialist Anil Ambani, broke its own record of last year that displayed 250 art works. The show was inaugurated by film personalities Javed Akhtar and Shabana Azmi at the Nehru Centre in Worli, central Mumbai.

The weeklong show provides a platform to new artists as well as established ones across the country every year. Out of the 173 artists, 44 are under the age of 35 and half of them are emerging artists.

Tina Ambani said: “This year’s show is perhaps the most diverse as compared to all years as it included mixed media works, installations, photography and experimental art, in keeping with international trends.”

The main focus of this year’s show is Dhruva Mistry, from Gujarat. Mistry brings rich imagery and narrative content to an astonishing body of work, diverse in style and scale.

Mistry gives shape to his creativity through bronze, cement, stone, canvas and steel.

The works of other established artists like Jogen Chowdhury, Ambadas, Amarnath Sehgal, Manu Parekh, Sakti Burman, Paresh Maity, Mithu Sen, Rameshwar Broota, S. Harshavardhana, Valsan Koorma Kolleri, T.V. Santosh and Bose Krishnamachari have been showcased.

The show has also displayed the work of street children from NGOs Aseema and Anchorage.
