This was announced by Eng. Hussain Nasser Lootah, Acting Director General of Dubai Municipality, who noted that the General Projects Department at the civic body has recently completed final designs of the project which is expected to be completed by August 2009.

He said the project is undertaken by the Municipality as part of its continuous support to the emirate’s education sector. Several similar projects were undertaken by the civic body in the past including the new premises of Zayed University, Dubai Men’s College, and Dubai Women’s College, in addition to the annual maintenance of several government schools in Dubai.

He noted that construction works of the project would be carried out in phases with the first phase involving works of the academic block, service buildings, parking lot and the compound wall.

The two-story academic block would consist of 16 class rooms for the primary division that can accommodate 400 students, 12 class rooms for the secondary division that can accommodate 300 students, laboratories, and teachers’ rooms.

Lootah explained that project’s architectural design reflects its purpose and its religious and social characteristics. “Main elements of Dubai’s traditional architecture heritage have been taken into consideration in designing the project. Effective use of empty areas and provisions for future expansions were also considered in the design,” he said.
