Mumbai : A decision on Sachin Tendulkar’s availability for the match against Delhi Daredevils in Indian Premier League (IPL) will be taken Sunday.
The Mumbai Indians skipper has missed all the five IPL matches of his team due to a groin injury and the uncertainity over his availability continues.
Though Tendulkar did play a 20-overs match against a team comprising reserve players and managed to field for the entire duration, the news filtering through is that the master batsman is still not match fit.
Even if he does play, expecting him to get a flying start from the blocks may seem to be asking too much. The decision on Tendulkar will only be taken on Sunday, though the team management and even the players seem to be banking on the captain playing his first competitive match since the first Test against South Africa in Chennai in March.
In the absence of Tendulkar, Mumbai Indians would be again banking on Sanath Jayasuriya, Robin Uthappa and Shaun Pollock in the batting department. The return to form of West Indian Dwayne Bravo will be some reason of hope for the hosts.
