United Nations : The UN Agency for Refugees warned on Friday that it would have to cut or suspend programs for thousands of Iraqis sheltered in Syria and Jordan, unless it receives additional funds.
UN High Commissioner for Refugees Antonio Guterres said in Geneva $130 million are necessary to aid Iraqi refugees and displaced people during the rest of the current year.
The Iraqi refugees that sought shelter in Syria and Jordan after their country was occupied by US troops receive food, health assistance, and financial aid from that UN authority.
The agency also supports the regional governments that try to solve the crisis originated by a mass refugee arrival.
The need for more resources became more serious, due to increase of food and fuel prices and the cost of other services.
