Yemen: election committees head for provinces to manage governors’ elections

Sana’a : Twenty-nine election committees left for Yemen provinces to manage the election of new governors on Saturday.

The governors election will be held in the capital Sana’a and the provinces of Taiz, Lahj, Ibb, Hadramout, Marib, Saada, Dhamar, Sana’a, Hodeidah, Baidha, Hajja and Amran.

However, the provinces of Aden, Abyan, Mahara, Mahwait, Dhalea, Jawf and Rayma see only single candidate for the position of governor.

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Local Administration Jafar Hamad has described elections of governors as key step to shift into local ruling.

In an interview with Saba, Hamad pointed out to the measures have been taken by the ministry to promote local ruling and administrative division.

He expected that the ministry would finalize administrative division of the country by end of this year.
