Activists of the Hindu Shiv Sena, Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hidu Parishad, in separate protests, burnt effigies of Pakistani leaders and also that of External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee saying the dialogue process with Pakistan was fraught with dangers.

These protests coincided with the resumption of the composite dialogue between foreign secretaries of India and Pakistan Tuesday.

Praveen Kumar, one of the protestors, said, “It is pointless to hold talks with Pakistan when Islamabad is exporting terrorism into Jammu and Kashmir and killing our soldiers on the border.”

Anti-Pakistan sentiment has returned to Hindu-majority Jammu after recent incidents of violence in Samba district where terrorists killed six people a few days ago. The killing of an Indian soldier at the Line of Control on Monday has further fuelled the anger against Pakistan.

These activists also raised slogans against Pakistan and the Manmohan Singh government.
