Mayawati went to her party president Kartar Singh Nagar’s residence in Badalpur village and remained there for about 30 minutes in the wake of a death in the family. Badalpur is also her native village.

The chief minister then went to Metro Hospital to see ailing Marxist leader Harkishan Singh Surjeet. Cabinet Secretary Shashank Shekhar accompanied her to both places.

Noida’s residents were shocked that Mayawati came close to Sector 25 but chose not to meet the grieving Talwar family.

Aarushi was founded murdered at her home May 16 and the family’s domestic help, who was initially thought to be the killer, was also found killed on the terrace a day later.

The police in Noida, which adjoins Delhi, have come under severe criticism over the double murder.

When Mayawati went to see Surjeet, the police forced journalists to leave the hospital so that they would not ask questions to the chief minister.
