Thiruvananthapuram : All Keralite organisations based outside India will be made brand ambassadors for Kerala tourism, Tourism Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan announced Saturday.
“We will invite two representatives from every Keralite organisation working outside the country and discuss in detail the manner in which they should try to promote Kerala in their countries as a tourist destination,” Balakrishnan told reporters here.
There are two million Keralites living outside India, of which close to 85 percent are in the Middle East.
He said that in 2007 there was an increase of 20.37 percent in the foreign tourist arrivals in the state. It touched 515,808.
