“Human rights and dignity are emphasized by the faiths and safeguarded by Allah for human beings without discrimination, they are engraved deep in every civilization and are not restricted on any civilization,” Ambassador Yusuf Al-Jaber, director of GCC department at Qatar’s foreign ministry, told a meeting of the EU-GCC foreign ministers about human rights here.

He said the GCC states shared the civilized world in respecting the human rights and principles of democracy for the sake of economic and political objectives.

The fact the GCC states were paying great attention to human rights is reflected via its contributions to international efforts to maintain human rights and organizing international human rights conferences, said Al-Jaber.

The GCC states have joined many international human rights agreements, and have established government and non-government organizations (NGOs) cementing human rights awareness, he said.

The GCC states, said Al-Jaber, were constantly revising human rights regulations and policies.

Kuwait is represented by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Dr. Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah.
