Navy Spokesman Roman Martov, said the crew of the “carrier killer” -under NATO standards- will test in high seas the anti-air system aboard against every flying target.

On its first sail after undergoing overall repair, Variag has been fitted devices able to annihilate enemy naval and ground units from long distance.

Its arsenal includes submarine bombs, torpedo and artillery of different caliber that makes it a dangerous rival for aircraft carriers, added Martov.

The navy has also tested along submarines at Primorie base (far-east) deep-sea defense systems, including missiles, artillery projectiles and mine defuse, added the source.

Also, Tu-95 armored bombers with strategic missiles, and Air Force aerial refueling tankers patrol the Pacific and Arctic regions.

Air Force Colonel Alexander Drobishevski said the carriers are sailing international waters with strict respect of international laws.

Moscow admitted that expansion of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization near Russian borders has forced Moscow to resume arms race.
