Three civilians, 30 Taliban killed in violence

Kabul : Three civilians were killed as a suicide car bomber attacked a foreign military convoy in Kabul on Thursday. Elsewhere, the Afghan police claimed at least 30 Taliban were killed in joint air and ground operation by Afghan and foreign troops in western zone of the country. Taliban so far did not comment. The suicide attack on US forces’ convoy was carried out in Kabul. The convoy escaped, but the blast killed three civilians and injured several others,said a police officer on the spot. An official of the NATO press office in Kabul said the soldiers stayed unhurt in the attack. He said their armoured vehile was slightly damaged. In the western province of Farah, Afghan officials said at least 30 militants were killed following air and ground operation in the province by the Afghan and foreign troops. The police officer, introducing himself a Jalandar Behnam, said there was a fight between militants and Afghan police in which one policeman was killed and two officers injured. Air support was called from NATO troops. The compound, where the militants were hiding, was bombed, resulting in killing of all those present inside, said the police officer. There is no comment from Interior Ministry in Kabul or Taliban militants.
