Tehran : Deputy head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organisation Mohammad Saeedi has said that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is monitoring 5,000 operating centrifuges in the Natanz facilities.
Saeedi was speaking on the sidelines of the First International Seminar on ‘Nuclear Power Plants, Environment and Sustainable Development’ here on Sunday.
There is no concern over peaceful application of such centrifuges because the IAEA monitors all of them one by one and even pay snap inspection to control their activities.
The IAEA, in its recent report, has confirmed that Iran has increased the number of operating centrifuges in Natanz, from 3,800 to about 5,000, he said.
Since Iran has had very close cooperation with IAEA and it has remained committed to its modality plan, Iran’s nuclear dossier should return from the United Nations Security Council to the IAEA, he said.
On the Bushehr nuclear power plant, Saeedi said most parts of the job has been accomplished and the nuclear power plant will become operational next year.
