Colombo : Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa condemned Monday’s deadly suicidal attack to the headquarters of the National Unity Opposition party (UNP) in Anuradhapura, north-central province.
The attack killed 27, among them the main leader of UNP in that province Janaka Perera who was also Commander in Chief of the army, his wife Wiraja, (r) Major and UNP administrator John Pulle and his wife.
Eighty people were also wounded when the assailant exploded an explosive in the middle of the inauguration ceremony of UNP new provincial office.
Rajapaksa declared the attack is another evidence of the need to join together for the success of the current campaign to eradicate terrorism in the country.
