The delegation will meet U.S. defense officials in Washington, in light of U.S. assurances that there is no veto from the U.S. or Israel on arming the Lebanese army, the report said.

The expected trip of the Lebanese delegation comes after U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State David Hale held talks with Lebanese officials for several days, on ways of military and political bilateral cooperation.

The U.S. and Lebanon set up on Monday a joint military committee to follow military issues.

A joint statement by the U.S. embassy and the Lebanese army said the committee will provide an annual opportunity to discuss military cooperation, following the signing of three new military contracts worth 63 million U.S. dollars in U.S. grants to the Lebanese army for secure communication, ammunition and infantry weapons.
