Meo leader, ex-MP Choudhary Tayyab Husain passes away

New Delhi: Two-time Lok Sabha Member and former Rajasthan Minister Choudhary Tayyab Husain died in Gurgaon, Haryana on October 7. He was 72.

He had arrived in Gurgaon from Bharatpur in Rajasthan on October 7. As he complained of uneasiness in breathing, he was admitted to a hospital where he breathed his last around 5-30 a.m. on Tuesday.

He is survived by his wife, two daughters and two sons. His son Zakir Husain is former Haryana MLA.

One of the prominent front-row Meo leaders of Haryana, Tayyab Husain was a veteran Congress politician. He had twice represented Kaman constituency in Bharatpur in Rajasthan Assembly. He was the Minister for Agriculture in the previous Congress Government in Rajasthan. He represented Faridabad in Haryana in the Fifth (1971-77) and Seventh (1980-84) Lok Sabha. He was also member of All India Congress Committee.

He was born to Choudhary Yaseen Husain and Jummee on May 5, 1936 in now Gurgaon, Haryana. His father was also a politician. Tayyab Hussain did graduation and LLB from Aligarh Muslim University.

He was also member of the Aligarh Muslim University Court, the supreme governing body of the University. Choudhary Tayyab was elected as Honorary General Secretary of the AMU Old Boys’ Association.

On his demise AMU community has expressed deep sorrow and condolences.

Vice Chancellor of AMU Professor P. K. Abdul Azis expressed his heartfelt condolences on the sad and sudden demise of Choudhary Tayyab Husain, who was also minister of undivided Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan.

An AMU press release says Tayyab Husain was an illustrious alumnus of the university.

“As a politician of impeccable credibility Husain has commended great respect both in the political and public domain. On his untimely departure the country has lost an eminent political figure and the AMU a sincere and dedicated alumnus who has relentlessly championed the cause of Aligarh Movement,” AMU VC Azis said.
