Doha : Director-General Arab Industrial Development and Mining Organization (AIDMO) Mohammed Bin Yousif announced on Saturday that Qatar will host the first International Conference on Industrial Investment in January 2009.
In a press statement Bin Yousif said that the forum under the patronage of the Amir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani will focus on reviewing a project related to the organizing of the Arab Industrial Development Bank poised for discussion in Kuwait’s Arab Economic, Development and Social Summit also due to be held in January.
The proposed bank will provide loans and will support the establishment of smaller to mid-sized industrial projects as well as provide information and data on Arab industrial products, promoting them and attracting investors to the Arab world, according to Bin Yousif.
He also indicated that the Arab ministerial committee which had recently held a preparatory meeting for the Kuwait summit, called for the support of the industrial private sector and assigning private companies with a more productive role in the society also uncovering the difficulties they face.
