“The Congress and its allies are engaged in the dirty game of vote bank politics. This has turned out be a greater evil for the country than the issue of terrorism,” he told a party rally here on Saturday.

“Afzal Guru, a Parliament attack convict, has not been hanged due to vote bank politics,” Advani said virtually launching his party’s campaign for the upcoming Lok Sabha (Lower House) poll in the district.

Turning to terrorism, he said the UPA government had no right to continue in power as it had failed miserably to combat the menace.

He alleged the Congress and other constituents of the UPA were in league with terrorists.

Even UPA supporters like the Samajwadi Party had gone to the extent of “protecting” terrorists, the BJP stalwart said.

Though terror strikes were increasing, the government had not shown the will and courage to enact a stringent law to tackle these.

Wooing voters, he said the BJP was the only party which could eradicate the menace of terrorism.

“The country has seen enough of terror attacks. Now, it needs a party that can not only combat this, but also root out the menace,” the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate said.
