Indonesian Govt Launches Translated Version Of The Quran

Purwokerto : The Indonesian ministry of religious affairs has officially launched a complete translation of the Quran and explanations of its passages after five years compilation, Antara news agency reported.

Quoting Religious Affairs Minister Maftuh Basyuni, the Indonesian news agency reported that the compilation of the translations and explanations of the passages of the Quran had been done by a team of the ministry.

“The process of the compilation lasted five years with six sections of the Quran being completed every year. Thank God this year, the full translation of the 30 sections and the explanations of the Quran is published,” he said during his speech at the commemoration of the descent of the Quran at the Baitussalam Grand Mosque here.

He said the translation and explanation of the passages of the Quran were put in 10 volumes.

The launching of the translated version of the Quran was marked by the handing over of the book to President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono during the commemoration along with the First Lady.

Meanwhile Minister Basyuni said the translation and explanation of the Quran were very important for the people to understand the contents of the Koran for implementation in their daily life.

Professor Komaruddin Hidayat, the rector of the State Istitute of Islamic Studies, delivered a lecture on “the Quran as a Source of Civilization” at the occasion.
