Bhopal : A Bhopal court Saturday allowed police to interrogate for 10 days a suspected activist of the banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), who was arrested in the morning.
Mohammad Ali alias Vikram Sen, believed to have been working as a treasurer for the state unit of the SIMI, was held near Bhopal after police intercepted a vehicle, in which he was travelling.
Ali was coming from Narsinghpur to the state capital when he was arrested, Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) deputy inspector general Pawan Srivastava told reporters.
The police said they had recovered objectionable literature from him.
He was held following a tip-off by Shahbaz Hussain, arrested in connection with the Jaipur and Ahmedabad serial blasts.
The police had announced a reward of Rs.15,000 for information leading to the arrest of Ali, as he was wanted in many criminal cases in Jabalpur and Ujjain districts.
Meanwhile, at least two teams of the Gujarat police have reached Indore and Jabalpur in search of SIMI activists believed to be linked to the serial blasts in Ahmedabad and New Delhi.
Five serial blasts in New Delhi on Sep 13 claimed 24 lives and left about 100 injured. On July 26, 22 blasts had ripped through Ahmedabad, killing at least 56 people.
