The Chintan Shibir camp aims to make elected representatives more responsive to people’s grievances, said BJP state president Purushottam Rupala at the venue.

Rupala said the party will direct all its MLAs and MPs from the state to “come closer to the people”.

The venue, 150 km from Ahmedabad, is part of brainstorming session to help coordinate elected members with the organisational wing of the party and ensure that public grievances are promptly attended to at appropriate level and redressed. “Right from the district to the remote village we would like to reach out to the people,” he said.

Besides Chief Minister Narendra Modi, Venkaiah Naidu, Arun Jaitley and Arun Shourie several others party luminaries are expected to attend the shibir that concludes on Sunday, said Raju Bhatt, a party official.

Except for assembly Speaker Ashok Bhatt and Palanpur MLA Govindbhai Prajapati all the 115 MLAs (including cabinet ministers) and Modi were present in the evening.

The BJP MLAs and ministers rushed from Gandhinagar to attend the camp as soon as the day’s work was over at the assembly.

According to political circles, the shibir is just a warm up preparation for the ensuing Lok Sabha election.
