In a statement here, AIMF general secretary Hyder Azam urged Muslims to keep the celebrations simple and low-key and asked them to hold special prayers to wipe out the spectre of terrorism from India and the rest of the world.

“All Muslim brethren should also remember and pray for peace to the victims who have lost their lives in recent terror bombings in Bengaluru, Ahmedabad and New Delhi,” Azam told IANS.

Simultaneously, he called upon all Muslim clerics to march to local police stations immediately after Eid prayers and submit memoranda denouncing terrorism and requesting that innocent members of the community should not be targeted.

He said that like all religions, Islam professes peace and universal brotherhood and “terrorism is not the way to achieve any goal”.
