Will Shahnawaz, Naqvi leave BJP?

By Andalib Akhter, TwoCircles.net,

New Delhi: The day Varun Gandhi’s hate CD was published in the media, the two prominent Muslim figures of BJP, Vice president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and chief of the party’s minority’s cell Syed Shahnawaz Hussain were crying at the top of their voice condemning the utterance of young Gandhi.

While Shahnawaz said: “Varun Gandhi has abused the entire Muslim community” and demanded his public apology, Naqvi termed his comments as against the culture, principles and ideology of the BJP, which never thought on the lines of disrespecting other religions,” He also said that Hindutva never meant hurting the sentiments of other religions and the comments of Varun Gandhi would never be appreciated at the party level.

Now that BJP chief Rajnath Singh and party’s prime ministerial candidate L K Advani have openly come out in support of this hate monger youth, the question remain in the mind of the common man as the how these two Muslim faces in the party would prove themselves true.

In Raipur, Rajnath Singh said his party would not only back his candidature from Pilibhit it would also defend Varun Gandhi “politically and legally”. According to him Varun was “being harassed” for “vitiating the political atmosphere and disrupting social harmony” before the polls.

BJP prime ministerial candidate L K Advani also ruled out isolating the young leader “in his hour of need”. Talking to reporters in Bhubaneswar, Advani said: “The move to detain him under the NSA is purely due to vote bank politics in Uttar Pradesh… and everybody knows who are behind it”.

Interestingly BJP leaders M Venkaiah Naidu and Kalraj Mishra along with the UP BJP president would visit Gandhi in jail to give him strength so that he would continue with his rhetoric.

Shahnawaz and Naqvi could not be reached for their comments.
