New Delhi : Delhiites can heave a sigh of relief as the Met department has said that the scorching heat is likely to ease over the weekend. The capital has been witnessing unusually high temperatures for the month of April.
S.C. Bhan, director of the India Meteorological Department (IMD), said: “In the summers the temperature depends on the flow pattern of the wind. And in the last few days, because of western disturbances warm air had risen up, causing a corresponding rise in the mercury level.”
The maximum temperature hovered around 40 degrees Celsius in the past few days – quite high for this time of the year.
“However, with the disturbances moving away, we are expecting the temperatures to fall and return to normal over the weekend. In fact, today (Friday) there was a four degree drop in the maximum temperature,” Bhan told IANS.
The minimum temperature recorded early Friday was 23.1 degree Celsius, which was two degrees above normal. The maximum, however, was normal at 36 degree Celsius.
