Kasargod: Three more BJP activists arrested in the murder of Azhar

Kozhikode: Three more BJP activists have been arrested in connection with the murder of Muhammed Azhar during the violence in Kasargod on November 15. Sajith (19), Pavanan (19) and Sasi (32) were arrested on Friday by the police team led by CI KV Venugopal. The police have reportedly recovered a knife from them.

The police had earlier arrested two BJP activists Ramesh (21) and Satheesh (30) in connection with the same case. The police have reportedly informed that all the accused in the murder of Azhar have now been arrested. They have also found out two knives also which were used to stab. The police have reportedly said that Azhar was stabbed by Ramesh and Sajith.

Muhammed Azhar and Shafeek, both activists of the Muslim League, were killed during the police firing and violence that followed the Muslim League’s public meeting in Kasargod city. Shafeek was killed in police firing and Azhar was stabbed to death by a group of men. The Muslim League and the UDF had demanded a judicial probe into the police firing incident and violence as well as the removal of SP Ramdas Pothen from his post. The government has now ordered for a judicial probe. Mr Pothen has also been transferred to nearby Kannur.
