Saudi Arabia releases list of 85 terror suspects

Riyadh : Saudi Arabia has published a new list of 85 most wanted suspects living abroad. The list included 83 Saudis and two Yemenis. There were also six Saudis released from the Guantanamo detention center in the list, according Saudi authorities have asked for the help of Interpol to detain the suspects and return them to Saudi Arabia, the Saudi Press Agency reported yesterday, citing an official source at the Ministry of Interior. The ministry statement said that after Saudi Arabia announced an amnesty on August 4 last year, 15 Saudis “who were misled and realized their mistake” had come forward to surrender to the Saudi embassies and consulates abroad. “There are still others who are still holding on to their sins and temptations,” the statement said.

“They have made themselves tools in the hands of the enemies of the religion, and the nation has nothing to do with them and is apprehensive about what despicable acts these human devils might perpetrate against their people and nation.” The Ministry urged the suspects to turn themselves in to the nearest Saudi embassies and consulates abroad. “The wanted persons should return to reason and wisdom and surrender under the amnesty offer, whereby their return to the country would be secured and they would be reunited with their families depending on the charges against them,” the statement said adding that the Saudi society has realized the reality of deviant thought and the goals of evil-doers who are waging a war against Allah and His Prophet (peace be upon him).

The ministry announced rewards amounting to millions of riyals to those who pass tip off regarding the suspects. “Rewards earlier announced will also be extended to those who provide information about these persons wanted by the security authorities,” the statement said. The ministry earlier announced SR 7 million for those who help foil a terror act. SR 5 million will be awarded to those who give information leading to the arrest a group of terrorists and SR 1 million for those giving information about one suspect.
