Jeddah : A spokesman of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) Observatory on Islamophobia expressed concerns over the rising incidents of vandalism targeting holy places and shrines of Muslims in Crimea. These included desecrating Mosques and destroying and defacing the monuments of famous figures of the Crimean Tatar people erected in Crimean towns as well as gravestones in cemeteries by extremists,” the spokesman said in a statement.
He said that such deplorable activities are beyond all accepted norms of civilized behavior and would pose threat to inter communal peace and harmony in the society. The spokesman called for immediate strong measures to be taken by the authorities against the perpetrators of such extremist and hateful acts who are common enemies to the entire international community and to put an end to such incidents.
