Bangalore : Nine people have been arrested for the July 2008 serial bomb blasts that killed a woman here, a top police official said Saturday, adding that the case had been solved. All the nine are from Kerala, Bangalore city Police Commissioner Shankar Bidari told reporters here.
Four more people involved in the July 25, 2008 blasts, which killed two people and injured 15, have been killed in gunfights in Jammu and Kashmir, he said.
The arrest of Abdul Sattar, an electrician, on Jan 20 in Hyderabad, helped nab the others involved in carrying out the blasts, the second major terror attack in the tech hub, Bidari said.
A series of low-intensity bombs went off in a span of 15 minutes in crowded areas of east and west Bangalore on July 25. One woman was killed on the spot and a man succumbed to injuries a few days later.
The first terror incident in Bangalore occurred in December 2005 when a lone gunman attacked the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), killing M. C. Puri, emeritus professor of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi.
